The Burmese Women’s Sewing Group provides a safe, comfortable, relaxed space to reduce social isolation in the community and to develop skills such as sewing, whilst empowering women through information and education.
From humble beginnings the group has continuously welcomed new members. Springvale Neighbourhood House accommodates the needs of our group in terms of support, space, transport and material needs such as floor matting and stationary.
Springvale Neighbourhood House has assisted with the formation of our group and has informed us of courses and information sessions available through SNH.
During the year we enjoyed Burmese cooking. This involving cooking all together and taking charge of the kitchen. We also experimented with Australian cooking by trying apple crumble for the first time!
We invited guest speakers so we can learn about health, healthy food & lifestyle and about services and facilities in the community.
